Dinosaur Designs is one of the Australia’s most celebrated brands in jewellery, homewares and objet d’art. To showcase their stunning new range, Dinosaur Designs aka Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, partnered with Hoyne Design and photographer Nicholas Samartis to produce a highly collectible annual publication. Its graphic and textural imagery had us at page one. The theme is modern tribal, as Louise Olsen said: “With this collection, we played with the rhythmic sensibility of colour and pattern. Strong earthy tones are balanced with earthy neutral tones.
The 32pp A5 booklet is printed offset CMYK with fluoro orange ink on HannoArt Satin 170gsm and cover Impact 100% recycled 300gsm. The dust jacket is designed as a treatment which unfolds to reveal a double sided poster, printed offset CMYK with fluoro orange on Impact 100% recycled 100gsm. The publication is a work of art in itself – a real little beauty that does the brand justice. To view Dinosaur Design’s beautiful new range see www.dinosaurdesigns.com.au/collections
Title: Impact booklet
Agency: Thursday Design (NSW)
Client: K.W.Doggett Fine Paper
Printed by: Southern Colour (NSW)
In 2009 we profiled young, up-and-coming boxer ‘Wild Will’. Back then he was preparing for his fight against Samson Percy. The fight was the undercard to the match between Anthony Mundine and Shannan Taylor. Wild Will went on to win that fight and many more since. He now holds numerous belts including the IBO World Super Featherweight title. You might say he has made quite the ‘Impact’ on the boxing scene.
Recently, we tracked Will down. Shown above is a photo of what he currently looks like. The word ‘ripped’ springs to mind plus he looks a little older and definitely has a flatter nose – no doubt the result of the few times he failed to duck!
We have re-printed a shorter version of the original promotion as many of you didn’t get the chance to see it the first time. Next year, we shall give you a new Impact promotion but for the time being ‘take the shot, don’t drop your guard. Make an Impact’. Impact paper is a bright white uncoated paper made from 100% recycled pulp. It is carbon neutral from raw materials through to K.W.Doggett Fine Paper warehouses and is available from light text weights to heavy card weight.
Title: Envirocare 100% Recycled Promotion
Agency: David Lancashire Design
Client: K.W.Doggett Fine Paper
Stocks: Envirocare 100% Recycled
In collaboration with David Lancashire Design we wanted to create a fresh, new look for Envirocare 100% Recycled. The outcome is a promotion that celebrates trees, one of our greatest natural resources. This fun promotion showcases the paper, showing its warm natural whiteness, earthy tactility and individual finish. We wanted to highlight the fact that trees provide loads of benefits for both human life and the environment. The combination of illustrations and quirky quotes tells a story that honours trees for creating shelter, shade, fuel, food and of course paper! A great medium for all sorts of communication.
The promotion consists of a beautiful leaf shaped folder containing five postcards, a small booklet and a pre-cut label. The illustrations were done by a talented bunch including Sara Fanelli (Italy), Peter Till (UK), Jeff Fisher (Aus/France), George Hardie (UK) and David Lancashire (Aus).
We’re continuously committed to managing our impact on the environment, which includes stocking environmentally sound papers. Envirocare 100% Recycled is uncoated, made entirely from waste paper, printed with chlorine-free pulps and without the addition of any optical brighteners or bleach. It’s a raw yet elegant paper with excellent bulk and opacity and produces rich solids and sharp detail for high quality results.
